Let’s talk cocktails. Specifically, cocktails that make you look like you really tried… without actually trying that hard.

As bartenders (whether at restaurants or curated events), we’re always chasing that sweet spot: crowd-pleasing, memorable, and simple enough to execute without breaking a sweat. That’s where this Blueberry Sidecar comes in. It’s a twist on the classic three-ingredient Sidecar — a drink that’s stood the test of time for a reason — but with one sneaky upgrade: jam.

Yep. Jam.

We took the traditional brandy + triple sec + lemon combo and added Berry & Brine’s spiced wild blueberry jam. The result? Absolutely stunning. Sweet but sour. Boozy but refreshing. Familiar, yet totally unexpected. That deep blueberry flavour brings richness while the lemon keeps everything bright and balanced.

This is the kind of cocktail you serve when you want to impress guests without becoming the bartender all night. It’s perfect for dinner parties, girls’ nights, cocktail hours, or anytime you want something timeless with a twist. Plus, it shakes up fast, looks gorgeous in a coupe glass, and tastes way more complex than the ingredient list suggests.

If you’re into classic cocktails but love a little creative flair, this one’s for you. It’s elegant, approachable, and just different enough to feel special. Show up with this in your back pocket and you’re instantly the cool friend.

Trust us — once you try it, this jam-forward Sidecar is going straight into your hosting rotation.

What is in a Blueberry Sidecar?

Brandy

Brandy is the backbone of this cocktail — warm, smooth, and slightly sweet. It provides depth and richness that pairs beautifully with blueberry and citrus. A good-quality brandy makes all the difference here.
Recommendation: VS or VSOP brandy.

Triple Sec

Triple sec adds bright orange notes and balances the brandy with light sweetness. It keeps the drink lively and adds that classic Sidecar flavour profile.
Recommendation: Cointreau or quality triple sec.

Spiced Wild Blueberry Jam

This is the twist. The jam brings concentrated blueberry flavour, subtle spice, and body to the cocktail. It adds sweetness while giving the drink a gorgeous colour and silky texture.
Recommendation: Berry & Brine spiced wild blueberry jam.

Lemon Juice

Fresh lemon juice provides acidity that cuts through the booze and sweetness, keeping everything balanced and refreshing. Always go fresh here — it matters.
Recommendation: Freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Products used in a Blueberry Sidecar:

Can I batch this cocktail for a party?

Absolutely — this is a great batchable cocktail. Just multiply the ingredients by however many servings you need and mix everything except ice in a large pitcher. Keep it chilled in the fridge, then shake individual servings with ice before straining. If you’re really trying to simplify, you can pre-shake with ice, strain into a bottle, and store cold — just give it a quick shake before pouring.

What if I don’t have blueberry jam?

You can sub another berry jam like blackberry or raspberry, but blueberry really shines here. If your jam is super thick, warm it slightly so it blends more easily in the shaker. Just aim for something fruit-forward and not overly sweet.

Can I use a different spirit?

Yes — cognac works beautifully (it’s technically traditional for a Sidecar). Bourbon or dark rum also make fun variations, though they’ll change the vibe. If you swap spirits, keep the ratios the same and adjust lemon to taste.
